HistoryCroydon Judo Club is one of the oldest in the United Kingdom, we celebrated our 50th Anniversary in 2001. Click here to see a more complete history of the Club. Croydon Judo Club is a registered British Judo Association Club with all coaching undertaken by qualified staff who are trained and screened for their suitability for working with young people. The Club provides opportunities for players to receive coaching in all aspects of the sport that interests them and to attend regular gradings and competitions if they wish.
Awards In
2005 the Club has been awarded The Sport England Clubmark which is a
prestigious kitemark to recognise that it is a quality sports club.
Players, parents, schools, local authorities and other agencies
can have confidence in the way in which the Croydon Judo Club is run and
carries out its activities. Croydon is the first Judo club is
Surrey to receive this award and one of only a handful in the south.
Only a thousand Sport England Clubmarks have been awarded
countrywide across all the sports so far
The Club has also earned a Bronze Recognition Award by the British Judo Association to acknowledge the high standards achieved by the club in the promotion and delivery of judo.
Future Plans The Club has just moved into a brand new international standard dojo on the old Sir Philip Game Centre site in Morland Avenue, Croydon - click here to check where the new dojo is located. This new permanent home for the Club will have a 20m x 20m Dojo as well as showers and changing facilities.
We will share the new centre with the Sir Philip Game Boys Club but each club will have its own entrance and activities timetable. The
Objectives of the Club are :-
To foster, encourage and develop the sport of Judo at all levels, providing opportunities for participation, recreation and competition.
To operate in accordance with the following British Judo Association policy, and any changes to these policies in the future.

Equity The Club is committed to ensuring that equity is incorporated in all aspects of its development and in doing so it acknowledges and adopts the Sport England definition of sports equity which involves changing the structure of sport to ensure fairness, equity of access, recognising inequalities and taking steps to address them.
The Club respects the rights, dignity and worth of every person and is committed to everyone having the right to enjoy sport free from the threat of intimidation, harassment and abuse.
Club Coaches Our current coaches have many years of experience at coaching all ages from 5 to 55. Separate sessions are held for different age groups and ability levels. There is a women's only session on each Wednesday.
Visitors Visitors from other clubs or overseas are always welcome. Those who want to find out what judo is about are also welcome to come and participate as well as watch. Beginners trial sessions for all ages are free and we can supply loan judogi for this purpose.
Current members Current club members compete at all levels of the sport to national and international standard as well as organising and refereeing at competitions throughout the Southern Area
Membership Membership of the Club is open to any person of good standing completing a membership application form and paying the relevant subscription/joining fee.
The club has many volunteers helping with all aspects of club business from running the web site, the tuck shop, and fundraising, to keeping the Dojo, spare kits and equipment washed and clean
